6 Comparison of Two Multivariate Means

Section 5 tested a single mean vector against a fixed value. The commoner question in practice compares two populations, and there are two distinct designs: the observations may be paired, or the two samples may be independent. The distinction matters as much here as it does in the univariate case, and for the same reason.
